Master in Criminal Justice System    

 

The criminal justice system is the field which airs the resolution of conflicts generated by crime, both nationally and internationally. It comprises a set of institutions conducted by trained professionals in various scientific disciplines have found no comprehensive training offered in the traditional map of formal qualifications.

This master embodies a firm commitment to comprehensive education of future professionals and researchers in the field of criminal justice system. Transdisciplinary training aims in all disciplines that comprise members of criminal sciences. It is the only existing  Spanish master in the geographical area that is addressed in depth analysis of legal disciplines both as more empirically based those related to the criminal phenomenon. Just the title of the Master, "the criminal justice system" has been taken concerning consolidated international counterparts, such as graduate studies at the University of Massachusetts or the University of Leicester, in which the term "criminal justice system" is used to refer the interdisciplinary approach of the issues concerned by this activity.

In order to achieve this objective jurists and criminologists from five different Spanish universities, coordinated by the Universitat de Lleida, have joined forces to enable this educational offering. Thus, in addition to the University of Lleida, given this title members of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili, Universitat Jaume I de Castelló, and Universitat d'Alacant.

The teaching methodology used in the master is hybrid. Each of the two semesters starts with a period of face-to-face lectures. In the core module (first semester), these sessions are held during two weeks, while in the optional module the face-to-face teaching (second semester) is held in four sessions of 8 hour lectures each.
